Sawmill - Green End Supervisor

Experienced Supervisor will lead production crews of 10-20 team members in a safe and effective manner to process logs into individual rough dimension lumber. To ensure success as a green end supervisor, you should have a customer focused mindset, and by able to communicate effectively with other team members to achieve safety and production requirements.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead a relentless culture committed to injury free work
  • Ensure quality standards are being maintained for all products
  • Identify opportunities and communicate to improve productivity, reduce cost and maximize value
  • Communicate any maintenance and production needs effectively and respectively
  • Learn to use CMMS system effectively to input work orders
  • Be involved with troubleshooting issues within department
  • Oversee staffing for crew and department
  • Address personnel issues with direct reports
  • Manage budgeting

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to accurately follow instructions
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Detail and results oriented
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills with Windows Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word

Education and Experience:

  • Prefer 2 years of lumber manufacturing, or 5 years of other industries
  • Prefer 2 years of leadership experience
  • Must have high school, GED, or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Lumber grading certification is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast pace industrial environmental
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold temperatures
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Suitable agility and stamina to permit negotiation of stairs, elevated work platforms, ladders and walking on uneven terrain
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Sales Representative

Sales Representative

Seeking an experienced candidate to join our lumber sales team. This position requires the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a professional salesperson to successfully perform various duties withing the sales department with emphasis on customer relations and promotion of product.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Make outgoing customer calls in order to sell products
  • Answers questions about product specifications and pricing.
  • Accurately and efficiently enters customer information into company databases for mailing and billing purposes
  • Maintains a list of potential leads and follows up with those customers by making subsequent calls/sales pitches
  • Assists sales team with arranging meeting and sales calls with customers
  • Contacts customers in response to correspondence and feedback
  • Maintains working knowledge of products sold and keeps current on industry developments
  • Travel at times can be up to 50%
  • Participate and attend industry and customer trade shows and events to cultivate customer relationships, promote product and maximize selling opportunities
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Business analytics experience would be a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related business discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of sales experience preferred
  • Experience in wood products industry preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours if needed

Planer Setter/Operator

Planer Setter/Operator

Skilled Planer setter will handle the coordination of maintenance and correct operation of the planer to allow the planer to reliably produce quality lumber that will be packaged for finished goods and do so in a safe manner. A successful Planer setter will be customer focused, be mechanically inclined, and be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with all involved team members.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and performing routine precision maintenance on the planer
  • Setting planer to correct target sizes and adjust as necessary
  • Ensuring planer quality
  • Leadership of planermill operations
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, operational, and/or quality issues from the planer
  • Taking a lead role in safety
  • Documenting preventative maintenance processes about the planer
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
  • Ability to travel when required

Required Competencies:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, or 3 years of applicable technical experience
  • Technical certificate or Associates degree is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes is a plus

Technical Supervisor

Technical Supervisor

Technical Supervisor will help create and implement process including optimization, quality control, and overall process improvement. The position will also participate occasionally as a supervisor in training.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe production environment
  • Take ownership for maintaining quality standards on all products
  • Help calibrate and maintain optimization equipment
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost, and maximize value
  • Troubleshoot production issues
  • Help provide training to production workers and help promote product quality standards among operations
  • Communicate any maintenance and production needs effectively and respectively
  • Be involved with improving processes and procedures throughout the facility
  • Support all phases of the lumber manufacturing process to include set-up, changeover, automation, workflow, yield rates, reliability, and overall efficiency of machine centers
  • Serve as a backup supervisor on occasion
  • Be willing to work a flexible schedule
